- States Shied Away From Borrowing Buffet in 2006: CommentaryBloomberg NewsApr. 26 (Bloomberg) -- Columnist Joe Mysak comments on a report by Moody's Investor Service that says state net tax-supported borrowing increased by 5 percent in 2006 down from an increase of 5.9 percent in 2005. Most states and localities now sell bonds that are backed by specific revenues instead of taxes. Still, the news that states aren't out there pledging away their tax bases for the next 30 or 40 years is a pleasant surprise to Mysak. Mysak is a Bloomberg columnist.
